How might we meet the needs of isolated elderly people through a cleaning service?
→ WHEN
2019
→ WHERE
Copenhagen, Denmark
→ CLIENT
Aspire, a fictional cleaning service company
→ TEAM
Amalia Robinson Andrade, Marialuisa Dubla, Julius Staskunas, Veronika Strnova
→ MY ROLE
My role was to visualise the models utilised. Additionally, I focused particularly on developing the ecosystem map, storyboard and service blueprint.
→ CHALLENGE
Aspire produces ad distributes vacuum cleaners/cleaning materials. In order to reach a new market, the company needs to create a new service, that offers a possibility to young students, unemployed people or occasional cleaners to offer cleaning service online, using Aspire products.
→ CONCEPT
Aspire provides a personalised cleaning service with an added social component. It matches elderly people who need someone to help clean their house and someone to talk to, with people who are learning Danish and benefit from talking in Danish to the elderly person. This service is also possible to pay in cash, to meet the needs of elderly people who do not feel comfortable using an app.
→ LEARNINGS
- When designing a peer-to-peer service, it’s important to evaluate the scenarios of the possible interactions between users.
- When presenting a service concept, it’s important to select the tools to present to onboard external stakeholders well – it’s necessary to guide the conversation and facilitate their understanding, rather than focusing on unnecessary details.
- Identifying users’ needs and behaviours to develop solutions that are appropriate to the interested target groups. Developing digital solutions is not always the answer for certain target groups: In our case, it was necessary to find analogue alternatives to meet the elderly people’s necessities.
